Welcome Plaza

Colorful native gardens welcome visitors into the park’s core. The space is lively with water, seating, and food trucks. As the central hub of Northwest Community Park, the plaza serves a vital role as a place for gathering, play, performances, and more.

Splash Pad

Inspired by the streams and geology of the Texas Blackland Prairie, the Splash Pad forms a focal point within the Welcome Plaza. Whether cooling off in the jets or watching from the adjacent sloped lawn, the space is a highlight of the park.

Toddler Playground

From slides to sand and sculptural play features, the playground adjacent to the plaza suits younger children perfectly. Its close proximity to shade, water play, and restrooms makes access for families ideal.

Inclusive Playground

Play richness enables children of all abilities to grow and learn through physical, emotional, sensory, and social experiences. It offers large and small, younger and older users alike the opportunity to purse and build on their personal interests, skills, and strengths. Sensory experiences are designed to motivate five senses that our bodies have, creating a joyful, multifaceted play experience.

Great Lawn

Spilling out from the plaza, the Great Lawn stretches out across the southern end of Northwest Community Park. Along with providing stunning views, the lawn’s size and flexibility make it suitable for kite-flying, pick-up soccer games, and everything in between.

Picnic Grove

Shaded spots for picnicking dot the edges of the Great Lawn, providing views and moments of rest on sunny days. Restored Blackland Prairie borders the groves, immersing users in natural space and providing wildlife habitat.

Discovery Garden

Surrounded by pollinator gardens and anchored by a shade pavilion, the Discovery Garden provides learning and play opportunities for visitors of all ages.

Shared Use Path
2.1 miles

A 12’-wide shared use path forms a wide loop around the perimeter of Northwest Community Park. Mainly concrete with a shoulder of decomposed granite, the path allows hikers, bikers, runners, and casual strollers access across the site.

Pedestrian Path
1.2 miles

Connecting picnic groves, the discovery trail, and parking, pedestrian-only paths of decomposed granite stitch the park together.

All-Weather Trail
2.3 miles

Chip seal paving is a lower-cost alternative to concrete, providing a perimeter trail that remains accessible in wet conditions. Bikers and runners travel in opposite directions, optimizing trail use for everyone and mitigating pedestrian-cyclist conflicts.

Singletrack Trails
1.9 miles

Traditional soft-surface trails weave through rich Blackland Prairie, allowing cyclists, runners, and hikers an immersive experience. Nearly a mile of existing volunteer-built trails are repaired and improved.

Flow Trails

Utilizing the park’s sloping topography, flow trails offer users a winding downhill cruise with swooping curves, banked turns, and other exciting features for a wide range of skill sets.

Skills Tracks

Green, blue, and black skills trails wind over rolling hills, dotted with prefabricated features. A range of skill levels are accommodated, from beginner to expert.

Jump Lines

Twin lines focused on drops and jumps roll through the grassland, offering a thrilling experience for cyclists.

Pump Track

Rollers and berms minimize the need for peddling, providing a unique cycling experience.

Bike Playground

A combination of playful features themed to the Blackland Prairie gives children an easy introduction to bike features.

Nature Pavilion

Perched above the pond and wetland, the nature pavilion serves as outdoor classroom, observation platform, and interpretive element. It represents the heart of Frisco on the Green.

Wetland Landing

Boardwalks along Panther Creek allow visitors an immersive experience of riparian flora and fauna. Interpretive and educational elements enliven the space.

Ecologic Restoration

Frisco on the Green’s rich ecosystems are restored, improved, and celebrated. Lush bottomland hardwood forests offer shady, quiet strolls and diverse wildlife habitat.
